NSW:Missing hikers found

SYDNEY, Aug 9 AAP - Four hikers who went missing in bushland in NSW on Sunday have
been found safe and well, police say.

They were located on Monday morning and are being walked to safety by State Emergency
Service volunteers.

They were part of a group of 30 international tourists who set off on a walk to the
summit of Mount Warning National Park, west of Murwillumbah on Sunday afternoon.

Police have been told four members of the group, a 20-year-old woman and three men
aged 18, 19 and 23, left the summit at 4.30pm (AEST) to make their way back to the car
park at the base of the mountain but never arrived.

The remainder of the group trekked to the car park and contacted police at 8.30pm when
they were unable to locate their friends.

Police and the Volunteer Rescue Association conducted a search of the area but were
unable to locate the four missing hikers on Sunday night.

The search was suspended at 11.30pm and resumed at 6.30am on Monday.
