polybasic acid

polybasic acid An acid with more than one replaceable hydrogen atom. Examples include the dibasic sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄) and tribasic phosphoric(V) (orthophosphoric) acid (H₃PO₄). Replacement of all the hydrogens by metal atoms forms normal salts. If not all the hydrogens are replaced, acid salts are formed.
