DEFENDANTS GIVEN MORE TIME.(Business)

At least one group of defendants has been granted more time to respond to a lawsuit filed by Great Northern Associates Inc., seeking at least $31.4 million - and possibly more than $600 million - in damages.

The lawsuit, filed in State Supreme Court, seeks damages from CNA Insurance Cos. and five other insurance agencies based in the Capital District.

On Tuesday, Stephen J. Waite, attorney for Great Northern, once one of the largest insurance agencies in Albany, said he has agreed to an extension until Oct. 1 for defendants J.P. Tessitore Insurance Agency Inc., Joseph W. Tessitore and Joseph P. Tessitore to respond …
