US Patent Issued to International Business Machines on March 8 for "Method and Apparatus for Managing Multiple User Sessions in an Internet Protocol (Ip) Multi Media System (Ims)" (French Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 15 -- United States Patent no. 7,903,674, issued on March 8, was assigned to International Business Machines Corp. (Armonk, N.

Y.).

"Method and Apparatus for Managing Multiple User Sessions in an Internet Protocol (Ip) Multi Media System (Ims)" was invented by Jean-Luc Collet (La Gaude, France), Francois-Xavier Drouet (La Gaude, France), Stephane Charles Lebrun (Biot, France) and Gerard Marmigere (Drap, France).

According to the abstract released by the U.

S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method and system of managing one or more sessions in an Internet Protocol (IP) Multi-Media service (IMS) in which a session provides a stream of data of a specific protocol in order to provide a service to a user is provided. The method in one aspect includes storing details of a session for each user in a storage media, updating the storage media if there are changes to the session and using the details of the session to optimize the bandwidth and scheduling of the service as a whole."

The patent was filed on Jan. 22, 2007, under Application No. 11/625,423.
