Overlooked cops due for shrine Wall near Soldier Field likely to honor all who died while on duty

Like Washington's Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Chicago will soonhave an outdoor wall honoring the city's fallen officers -- a wallthat could ease the pain of some families whose loved ones are notenshrined inside police headquarters.

A total of 420 names are certain to be carved into stone. Theybelong to the officers whose retired badges are on display in theSuperintendent's Honored Star Case at the 35th and Michiganheadquarters.

At least 100 other officers' names might also appear on the wall,due to be completed in May 2006 in Gold Star Park east of SoldierField.
